Elektrokonvulsif tedavide anestezi uygulaması

Elektrokonvülzif tedavi halen geçerliliğini sürdüren en eski tedavi yöntemlerinden biridir. 1930’lu yılardaki deneysel kullanımını takiben anestezik ajanlar olmaksızın etkili bir şekilde kullanılmıştır. 1960 tan sonra işlemin komplikasyonlarını azaltması amacı ile anestezik ajanlar ve kas gevşeticiler kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu makalede; elektrokonvülzif tedavi sırasında kullanılan anestetik ve kas gevşetici ajanlar gözden geçirilmiş, etkinlikleri ve yan etkileri karşılaştırılmıştır. Ayrıca her bir maddenin riskleri ve kontraendikasyonu tartışılmıştır.
Anaesthesia for electroconvulsive therapy
Electroconvulsive therapy is one of the oldest medical treatments still in regular use. After its experimental use in 1930s it had been carried out effectively without any anesthetic agent. Since 1960 anesthetics and myorelaxants have begun to be used in order to prevent the complications of the procedure. In this article anesthetic and myorelaxant agents in the electroconvulsive therapy procedure are rewieved; their efficiacy and adverse effects are compared. Risks and contraindications of each agent is discussed. Supportive measures those have to be done during electroconvulsive therapy are summarized.
