Amaç: Bu araştırmada, çeşitli stresle başa çıkma tekniklerinin öğretiminin üniversite öğrencilerinin stresle başa çıkma düzeyleri üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Yöntem: Çalışma grubu 2002-2003 öğretim yılında Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi’nde okuyan ve stresle başa çıkma tekniklerini öğrenmek isteyen 28 gönüllü öğrenciden oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma deseni, ön-test, son-test, deney ve kontrol grup desen olup 14 öğrenci deney, 14 öğrenci kontrol grubuna alınmıştır.Öğrencilerin stresle başa çıkma düzeyleri Türküm (2002) tarafından geliştirilen “Stresle Başa Çıkma Ölçeği” ile ölçülmüştür. Verilerin analizinde t-testi ve kovaryans analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma bulguları, çeşitli stresle başa çıkma teknikleri öğretimi programına katılan öğrencilerin stresle başa çıkma düzeylerinin bu programa katılmayan öğrencilerin stresle başa çıkma düzeylerinden yüksek olduğunu ortaya koymuştur (p<.05). Tartışma: Elde edilen bulgular, genel olarak çeşitli stresle başa çıkma tekniklerinin öğretiminin öğrencilerin stresle başa çıkma düzeylerini olumlu yönde etkilediği şeklindedir. Benzer şekilde öğrencilere çeşitli stresle başa çıkma tekniklerinin öğretiminin stresle başa çıkma biçimlerinden olan sosyal destek arama, soruna yönelme ve sorunla uğraşmaktan kaçınma düzeyleri üzerinde de etkili olduğu görülmüştür.

Objective: In this research, the effects of various teaching techniques for coping with stress upon coping with stress levels of university students are examined. Methods: The study group consist of 28 volunteer students at Ondokuz Mayis University who are willing to learn various coping with stress techniques. Research design is based on pre-post test, experiment and control groups and each group included 14 subjects. Students’ coping with stress level has been measured by means of “Coping With Stress Scale” developed by Türküm (2002). T-test and covariance analysis were used for the analysis of data. Results: The research pointed out that coping with stress levels of students who attended teaching techniques for coping with stress program were higher than those of others (p<.05). Conclusion: In general, results have showed that teaching of various coping with stress techniques influences students’ coping with stress levels, positively. Similarly, it has observed that teaching of various coping with stress techniques has a considerable effect on looking for social support, approaching to the problem and avoiding from the problem as coping with stress.
