Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Almanya'da yaşa­yan Türklerde "göçmen olma"nın depresyon semp­tomları üzerinde bir farklılığa yol açıp açmadığını ortaya koymaktır.
Yöntem: 18 yaşından sonra gelen ve en az 15 yıldır Almanya'da yaşayan depresyon tanısı alan­lar (grupA) ile Türkiye'de yaşayan ve depresyon ta­nısı almış (grup T) 20'ser Türk hasta ile görüşüle­rek Hamilton ve Zung Depresyon Ölçekleri, SCL-90 dep-som altölçekleri ve bir semptom tarama lis­tesi verilmiştir.
Bulgular: Testlerin genel ortalama puanlarına bakıldığında Zung Depresyon Ölçeği ve somatik semptom tarama listesi puanları Grup A'da anlamlı olarak daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Hamilton Dep­resyon ölçeği doğrultusunda görüşme yapılırken, Grup Tde hastaların hastalığının bilincinde olduğu, Grup A'da İse yakınmalarını iklime, kötü yiyeceklere, istirahat ihtiyacına bağlama eğiliminde oldukları gözlenmiştir.

Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate whether the effects of being an "immigrant" cause any differences on the symptoms of depression of the Turkish people living in Germany.
Method: The Turkish immigrants with depressi­on who have come to Germany before the age of 18 and had lived there more than 15 [year]s (Group A) and the Turkish depressive patients living in Turkey (Group T), 20 in each group, have been in­terviewed and been given Hamilton and Zung Dep­ression Scales, SCL-90 som-dep subscales and a symptom checklist.
Results: The total scores of Zung depression and symptom list were significantly higher in group A. The interview according to the Hamilton Depres­sion Scale has shown that GroupT was clear about the illness but groupA had a tendency to find rea­sons for the symptoms, such as bad weather, bad food or the need for rest.
