Karabük Üniversitesi Sağlık Yüksekokulu Öğrencilerinde Depresif Belirtiler

Amaç: Karabük Üniversitesi Sağlık Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinde depresif
belirtileri değerlendirmek araştırmanın amacını oluşturmaktadır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tipteki bu araştırma
15.12.2012-15.01.2013 tarihleri arasında Karabük Üniversitesi Sağlık
Yüksekokulu’nda öğrenim görmekte olan 148 öğrenci ile yapılmıştır.
Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacılar tarafından ilgili literatür taranarak
elde edilen “Kişisel Bilgi Toplama Formu” ve “Beck Depresyon
Ölçeği (BDÖ)” kullanılmıştır. Veriler bilgisayarda 16,00 SPSS paket
programında değerlendirilmiştir ve Chi-Square Tests, Mann-Whitney
U Testi, Kruskall- Wallis testleri uygulanmıştır.
Bulgular: Araştırmamıza katılan öğrencilerin yaş gruplarına bakıldığında
%86.5’i 16-21 yaş grubundadır, %64.2’sini kız öğrenciler,
%68.9’unu hemşirelik öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Öğrencilerin %86.5’i
bölümü isteyerek tercih ettiklerini belirtmiştir. Öğrencilerin BDÖ puanlarına
bakıldığında %25’inin depresif belirtiler göstermekte olduğu
sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrencilerin BDÖ puanları üzerinde etkili
olan değişkenler ise bölümü isteyerek tercih etme durumu, kronik
hastalığa sahip olma durumu, aile ile olan ilişkiler, okul yaşamından
memnun olma durumu olarak tespit edilmiştir (sırasıyla, p<0.05;
p<0.05; p<0.05; p<0.001).
Sonuç: Araştırmanın sonuçları üniversite öğrencilerinde depresif belirtilerin
görülebileceğini göstermektedir. Öğrencilere yönelik koruyucu
ruh sağlığı programları geliştirilebilir.
Depressive Symptoms in Karabuk University Health School Students
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the depressive symptoms in Karabuk University
Health School students.
Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted be- tween 15.12.2012-15.01.2013
with 148 students who were attending Kara- buk University Health School. The “Personal Information
Form” that was obtained from the literature by the researchers and the “Beck Depression Inventory
(BDI)” were used for collecting data. Data were evaluated on the computer program SPSS 16.00 and
the Chi square test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal- Wallis test were used.
Results: 86.5% of the students in our study were in the 16-21 year age group, 64.2% of students
were female, and 68.9% of them were nursing students. 86.5% of the students said that they
preferred their departments’ willingly. BDI scores of students showed that 25% of the students had
de- pressive symptoms. The variables that impacted the students’ BDI scores were preferring the
department willingly, chronic disease status, family relationships and being satisfied with school
life (p<0.05; p<0.05; p<0.05; p<0.001, respectively).
Conclusion: The findings show that depressive symptoms can be seen in university students.
Preventive mental health programs can be im- proved.
