Bu makalenin amacı, sistemler kuramı ve sistemik aile terapisi hakkında genel bir çerçeve oluşturmaktır. Makalede sırasıyla aile terapisinin diğer psikoterapilerden farkı, 1940'lardan bu yana sistem kuramının doğuşuna kaynaklık eden çalışmalar, Gregory Bateson, Jay Haley, John Weakland ve William Fry, Don Jackson, Murray Bowen ve Virginia Satir, Milano Grubu gibi aile terapisine öncülük eden kişiler ve ortaya çıkan ekollerle ilgili genel bilgiler verilmiştir. Yazıda ayrıca sibernetikler ve çifte açmaz gibi kavramlara, yeniden çerçeveleme, paradoks ve genogram gibi teknikler ve Bowen'ın kuramında yer alan sekiz önemli kavramla ilgili tanımlayıcı bilgilere yer verilmiş, son olarak da sistem kuramının temel sayıtlıları ve temel kavramları, aile yaşam döngüsü ve sistem terapisinin aile terapisine yansımaları aktarılmıştır.

The purpose of this article is to create a framework about systems theory and systemic family therapy. In the article, general information about the difference of family therapy from other psychotherapies, the source of the work in the emergence of systems theory since the 1940s, the emerging schools and the pioneers of family therapy such as Gregory Bateson, Jay Haley, John Weakland, and William Fry, Don Jackson, Murray Bowen and Virginia Satir, The Milan teams are given respectively. The article also gives identifiable information about the concepts of cybernetics and double-bind, the techniques of reframing, genogram and paradox and the eight key concepts of Bowen's theory. Finally, the basic assumptions and the basic concepts of systems theory, the family life cycle and the reflections of systems therapy to the family therapy are described.
