Dünyada 1950'li yıllarda başlayan aile terapisi hareketi, bireysel ve ailevi sorunlarda etkinliğine dair kanıtların her geçen gün artmasıyla birlikte son yıllarda Türkiye'de de büyük ilgi görmeye başlamıştır. Bu makalenin amacı, başlıca aile terapisi okulları hakkında genel bir çerçeve oluşturmaktır. Makalede öncelikle aile terapisini bireysel terapiden ayıran temel özellikler, hangi sorunların aile terapisi ile ele alınabileceği ve aile terapisinin ortaya çıkmasında etkili olan nedenler ve çalışmalar ana hatlarıyla aktarılmıştır. Ardından sırasıyla sistemik stratejik aile terapisi, psikodinamik yönelimli aile terapisi, Bowen'ın aile terapisi, davranışçı ve bilişsel davranışçı aile terapisi, yapısal aile terapisi ve deneyimsel aile terapisi okullarının temel kuramsal özellikleri ve temel kavramları ile ilgili bilgiler aktarılmıştır. Ayrıca makalede post modern bir yaklaşım olan öyküsel aile terapisine de yer verilmiştir.

The family therapy movement which began in early 1950's in all over the world has started to be great interest in Turkey in recent years by increasing body of evidence about its effectiveness on individual and familial problems. The purpose of this article is to create a general framework for the major schools of family therapy. The paper firstly outlines the main features that separates family therapy from individual therapy, what issues can be addressed with family therapy and the factors and studies that influence the emergence of family therapy. This is followed by the basic theoretical properties and basic concepts of the systemic strategic family therapy, psychodynamic-oriented family therapy, Bowen family therapy, behavioral and cognitive behavioral family therapy, structural family therapy and experiential family therapy. In addition, a post modern approach, narrative family therapy is presented in this article.
