Bireyin etrafından aldığı-algıladığı sosyal destek (SD) kadar bakımverenlerin bireye sağladıkları SD'nin de (verilen SD) sağlık psikolojisi alanında bakım alma/verme sürecinin başta tükenmişlik olmak üzere pek çok psikososyal sonucu üzerinde etkileri olduğu bilinmektedir. Ancak Türkiye'de bakımverenlerin “verdikleri SD” düzeyini ölçen bir araç bulunmamaktadır. Bu sebeple bu çalışmada yaşlılık/kronik hastalık sebebiyle yakınlarına bakımverenlerin sağladıkları SD düzeyini ölçen ve Sosyal Destek Veren Davranışlar Envanteri'ne (Erol, 2008) dayanarak bakımverenler için uyarlanan Verilen Sosyal Destek Ölçeği'nin (VSDÖ) psikometrik özellikleri 200 bakımverende sınanmıştır. Faktör analizi, Cronbach Alfa değerleri .80-.91 arasında olan “verilen” araçsal-bilgisel-duygusal destek olmak üzere üç faktörlü bir yapı ortaya koymuştur. Bu faktörlerin tükenmişlik ve algılanan SD ile olan korelasyonları yalnızca Verilen Duygusal Destek faktörü için beklenen düzeyde olmakla birlikte, ölçekler arası korelasyonlar, faktörel yapı ve güvenirlik bulguları VSDÖ'nün psikometrik özelliklerini kabul edilebilir kılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak VSDÖ bakım verme/alma sürecinde sosyal destek etkilerinin çok boyutlu incelenebilmesi açısından ülkemizde önemli bir açığı doldurabilir.

Not only received and perceived but also provided social support (SS) is currently ack- nowledged to have effects on caregiver burden and other psychosocial outcomes of caregiving process. However, there are no tools in Turkey which measure SS provided by caregivers. This study attempts to introduce the psychometric qualities of “The Provided Social Support Sca- le” (PSSS) which is adapted for caregivers based on Social Support Providing Behaviors Inventory (Erol, 2008), tested on a sample of 200 caregivers. Factor analysis revealed a three factor structure; “provided” material, informational and emotional support with Cronbach’s alpha values of .80-.91. Although its factors’ correlations with perceived SS and burn-out are as expected only for Provided Emotional Support, intra-scale correlations, its factor structure and reliability values can be accepted as a sufficient evidence for PSSS’ psychometric properties. In conclusion, PSSS can fill a basic need in testing multidimensional effects of SS in caregiving/taking process.
