Alkol ve madde kullanım bozukluğu (AMKB) ya da kullanımı tüm yaş dönemlerinde sıklığı artan, ağır toplumsal, tıbbi ve finansal sorunlara neden olan bir hastalıktır. Bu bozukluğun tanısı, tedavisi yaş dönemlerine, cinsiyete, sosyal özelliklere göre farklılıklar göstermektedir. Tedavi aşaması sonrasında uygulanması gereken rehabilitasyon hizmetleri de bireysel gereksinimlere göre farklılaşmalıdır. Yaşlılar ve ergenler AMKB için riskli grupları oluşturmaktadır. Gebelik döneminde alkol madde kullanımı ciddi sonuçlara yol açar. Sağlık çalışanlarındaki AMKB sıklıkla ihmal edilir ancak hem bireyi hem de diğer hastaları etkileyen önemli bir tıbbi durumdur. Ülkemizde özel gruplarda AMKB az araştırılmış bir konudur.

Substance use disorder (SUD) is an illness that causes severe social, medical and financial problems. Its frequency increases in all age periods. The diagnosis and treatment of this disorder exhibits differences across age groups, gender and social features. The rehabilitation services which should be applied after the treatment stage also differ according to personal needs. The elderly people and adolescents are the risk groups for SUD. Alcohol or substance use during the pregnancy has also serious consequences. Problem of SUD among health care professionals is often neglected, but it’s an important medical fact which affects the individual as well as his/her patients. The adolescents having SUD is another subtitle of this article. SUD in specific has been studied in our country.
