Sosyal biliş basit tanımı ile kişinin kendisinin ve diğerlerinin sosyal dünya içinde nasıl düşündüğü ile ilgilenen sosyal psikolojinin alt dalıdır. Şizofreni hastalarında sosyal biliş incelendiğinde 3 ana alanda sorunlar yaşandığı görülmektedir.Bunlar; duyguların algılanması ve ayırt edilmesi, zihin kuramı ve atıf biçimidir. Sosyal bilişi geliştirmeye yönelik girişimler içerisinde günümüzde ilk ve tek öncül girişim 2007 yılında ilk sonuçları yayınlanarak David Penn ve arkadaşları tarafından uygulanmaya başlanan Sosyal Biliş ve Etkileşim Tedavisidir (SBET)10. SBET, aktif olarak sosyal bilişsel işlemler üzerine odaklanması sebebiyle diğer sosyal beceri eğitimlerinden farklı bir yer almaktadır. SBET’in yararının altında yatan düzenek ise, hasta bireyin kendi sosyal bilişsel işlemlerini kavrayabilmesi ve kendi denetimini kurabilme becerisini kazanabilmesidir. Bu tedavi programı ile sosyal biliş ile ilgili çekirdek alanların yanı sıra hastaların sosyal işlevselliklerinde de düzelme saptanmıştır. Bu programın etkinliği, program sonrasında yatan hastalar, ayaktan hastalar ve altı aylık uzun dönem etkinlik çalışmalarıyla yinelenmiştir. SBET’i Türkiye’ye uyarlama çalışmaları sırasında hem SBET’in yapılandırılmış formatı içerisinde ‘aktarım’, diğer bir deyiş ile öğrenilen sosyal bilişsel yeteneklerin gerçek yaşama aktarılması konusundaki kısıtlılıkları gidermek hem de ülkemizin kültürel özelliklerine daha uygun olacağı düşüncesiyle uygulamaya aile ile ilgili bir modül de eklenmiş ve Aile Katılımlı Sosyal Biliş Etkileşim Tedavisi (A-SBET) geliştirilmiştir. A-SBET aileye yönelik üç, hastalara yönelik üç evre ve yaklaşık 14 oturumdan oluşan bir tedavi uygulamasıdır. Ülkemizde yürütülen bu uygulamanın da şizofreni hastalarının sosyal biliş, sosyal işlevsellik ve yaşam kaliteleri üzerinde olumlu etki yarattığı gösterilmiştir.

Social cognition is a sub-branch of social psychology and it refers to how individuals think about themselves and others in the social world. When social cognition is examined in schizophrenic patients, they seem to experience problems in 3 main areas: emotion perception and identif ication, theory of mind and attributional style. The first and only pioneering attempt among the attempts to improve social cognition in our time is the Social Cognition and Interaction Training (SCIT) whose first results were published in 2007 when David Penn et al. started using it. SCIT differs from other social skill trainings in that it actively focuses on social cognitive processes. The mechanism that underlies the benefit of SCIT is that participants can comprehend their own social cognitive processes and can gain the skill of setting up their own control. With this therapeutic program, improvements have been achieved in social functioning of patients as well as in their social cognition core areas. The efficacy of this program has been evidenced through 6-month long-term efficacy studies made on inpatients and outpatients after the program. During the efforts to adapt SCIT to Turkey, a module referring to the family was added to the training with the intention of both eliminating the restrictions in the structured format of SCIT on the ‘transfer’, in other words, conveyance of learned social cognitive skills to the real life and making it more suitable for the cultural characteristics of our country and a Family Assisted Social Cognition and Interaction Training (F-SCIT) was developed. F-SCIT is a therapy consisting of 3 phases for families and 3 phases for patients and approximately 14 sessions. This training performed in our country has also been shown to have positive effects on social cognition, social functioning and quality of life in schizophrenic patients.
