Amaç: Çalışmamızda, sınıfta elektrik çarpması nedeniyle hayatını kaybeden bir öğrencinin arkadaşlarında görülen travma belirtilerinin ve ilişkili etmenlerin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Ergenlerin değerlendirilmesinde Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu, Çocuk ve Gençlerde Travma Sonrası Stres Tepki Ölçeği, Çocuklar için Depresyon Ölçeği ve Olumsuz Yaşam Olayları Listesi kullanıldı. Bulgular: Çalışmaya 15-19 yaş arası (ort. 16.92) 219 ergen katıldı. 219 ergenin %32.7'sinin hafif, %18.8'inin orta, %7.9'unun ağır ve %3'ünün çok ağır travma sonrası stres bozukluğu belirtisi gösterdiği, %10.9'unun olası travma sonrası stress bozukluğu ve %9.3'ünün olası depresyon tanısı aldığı saptandı. Çocuk ve Gençlerde Travma Sonrası Stres Tepki Ölçeği'ne göre aşırı uyarılmışlık ve yeniden yaşantılama belirtilerinin sıklık ve şiddetinin yüksek olduğu gözlendi. Ergenlerin 2.49±2.74 (min-max: 0-17) olumsuz yaşam olayı yaşadığı, Olumsuz Yaşam Olayları Listesi ve Çocuklar için Depresyon Ölçeği toplam puanının travma belirtilerinin şiddetini yordadığı belirlendi. Sonuç: Kazalar, ergenler üzerinde travmatik etkiye sahiptir. Çalışmamızda, kaza sonrası ortaya çıkan travma belirtilerinin ergenlerin yaşadığı olumsuz olaylarla ve depresif belirti şiddetiyle ilişkili olduğu saptandı. Travmaya uğrayan ergenlerde yaşam olayları üzerine odaklanılması ve depresif belirtilerin değerlendirilmesi travma belirtilerinin gelişimini önlemede katkı sağlayabilir.

Objectives: In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the
traumatic symptoms and related factors that are seen in
the friends of a student who lost his life by an electric
shock accident in the class. Method: A detailed form for
sociodemografic characteristics, Child Posttraumatic
Stress Reaction Index, Childhood Depression Inventory,
and Adverse Life Events List were used for assessment of
adolescents. Results: 219 adolescents between 15-19
[year]s (mean 16.92±0.74) were participated in our study.
Of the 219 adolescents we found that 32.7% had mild,
18.8% had moderate, 7.9% had severe, and 3% had very
severe symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, and
that 10.9% had probable post traumatic stress disorder,
and 9.3% had probable depression diagnoses. The frequency
and severity of re-experiencing and hyperarousal
symptoms were considerably high on Child Posttraumatic
Stress Reaction Index. Adolescents had
2.49±2.74 (min-max: 0-17) adverse life events and the
severity of traumatic symptoms were predicted by
Adverse Life Events List and Childhood Depression
Inventory total scores. Conclusion: Accidents have traumatic
effects on adolescents. In our study, it's determined
that traumatic symptoms which were seen after
the accident were related to the adverse events experienced
by adolescents, and the severity of depressive
symptoms of the adolescents. Focusing on adverse life
events and assessment of depressive symptoms in traumatized
young people can prevent the development of
traumatic symptoms.
