Psikiyatrik Ayaktan Hasta Popülasyonunda Gece Yeme Sendromunun Yaygınlığı ve Diğer Psikiyatrik Bozukluklarla Birlikteliği

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı psikiyatrik ayaktan hasta popülasyonunda gece yeme sendromunun (GYS) nokta yaygınlığını belirlemek ve diğer psikiyatrik bozukluklarla birlikteliğini araştırmaktır. Yöntem: Bir haftalık süre içinde fiişli Etfal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hâstanesi Psikiyatri Polikliniği'ne başvuran 384 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Hastalara Gece Yeme Sendromu Anketi (GYSA) ile komorbid psikiyatrik bozukluklar açısından DSM-IV eksen-I bozuklukları için yapılandırılmış klinik görüşme (SCID) uygulandı. Bulgular: Hasta popülasyonumuzda GYS yaygınlığı %19.8 olarak hesaplandı. Psikiyatrik bozukluk oranları ise majör depresyon %51, bipolar bozukluk %13.5, yaygın anksiyete bozukluğu (YAB) %10.4; panik bozukluk %8.1, obsesif kompulsif bozukluk (OKB) %7.8 ve sosyal fobi %4.2 olarak tesbit edildi. GYS varlığı ile herhangi bir psikiyatrik bozukluk arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki bulunamadı. Tartışma: Çalışmamızda GYS tesbit edilen hastalarda diğer psikiyatrik bozukluklar için yüksek yaygı nlık oranları bulundu. Ancak herhangi bir eksen-I bozukluğu ile GYS arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki tesbit edilmedi.
Prevalence of Night Eating Syndrome and Comorbidity with Other Psychiatric Disorders in Psychiatric Outpatient Population
Objective: NES is of clinical importance because it is associated with both obesity and psychological distress. Associated features of NES include significant comorbid psychopathology and links with stress. We decided to investigate psychiatric outpatients group because prominent psychopathology in these patients can overshadow the possible underlying Night Eating Disorder. The purpose of this study was to identify the point prevalence of night eating syndrome (NES) and psychiatric comorbidity with other psychiatric disorders in our psychiatric outpatient population. Method: Subjects were recruited from psychiatric outpatient clinic at The Sisli Etfal Teaching and Research Hospital (n=384) in a week period. Night Eating Syndrome Questionnaire and Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV diagnosis (SCID) researchers? version were used as screening tools. Findings: Prevalence of NES in our study population was 19.8%. Our sample was screened with SCID for psychiatric diagnosis. Other psychiatric disorders prevalence's were 51% major depression, 13.5% bipolar disorder, 10.4% generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), 8.1% panic disorder, 7.8% obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and 4.2% social phobia. There wasn?t statistically significant relationship between NES and other psychiatric disorders. Discussionand Conslusion: We found higher prevalence rates for other psychiatric disorders in our NES patients? population. Accumulating evidence indicates that eating disorders symptoms are especially prevalent in patients with bipolar disorder. However we didn?t find a relationship between NES and bipolar disorder and any of other psychiatric disorders. In future studies are warranted to evaluate association of NES symptoms with affective symptomatology, medication effects and illness severity.
