Kentleşme, sanayileşme ve ekonomik gelişmeyle ilişkili olarak kentlerin büyümesine yol açan bir süreçtir. Bu
süreç aynı zamanda iş bölümü ve insan davranışlarında da birtakım değişikliklere neden olur. Bunların yanı sıra
kentleşme, stresli yaşam olaylarına, sosyal desteğin zayıflamasına, göçler sonucunda şehirlerin hızlı büyümesi
gibi sorunlara da yol açabilir. Bütün bu etkenler ruh sağlığını olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir. Bu nedenle bu süreç
kesinlikle ihmal edilmemelidir. Sonuç olarak kentleşme süreci hem kentte önceden yaşayan insanları, hem de göç
edenleri ilgilendirmektedir. Bu yazıda kentleşmeyle birlikte ortaya çıkan zorluklar ve kentleşmenin ruh sağlığı
üzerine olan olumsuz etkileri gözden geçirilmiştir.

Urbanization is such a process that it leads to the growth of cities related to industrial and economic development.
It also causes some changes in labor division and human behaviors. Besides, urbanization may cause problems
such as stressful life events, poor social network, and rapid growth of cities because of immigration. All of these
factors may negatively affect mental health which makes it a prominent process that should not be neglected. The
aim of this was to review the difficulties stemming from urbanization -an important problem for both urban people
and immigrants- and its negative impacts on mental health.
