Nörobruselloz nadir görülen bir bruselloz komplikasyonu olup santral ve periferik sinir sistemini etkileyen ciddi klinik sonuçlara neden olabilmektedir. Bunlardan birisi de psikoz tablosudur. Literatürde nadir de olsa, bruselloza bağlı psikoz olgu bildirimleri bulunmaktadır. Ayırıcı tanıda hastayı değerlendirirken klinisyenler çoğu zaman nöro-brusellozu göz ardı edebilmektedir. Hayvancılığın yaygın, gıda denetiminin yetersiz olduğu, enfeksiyon hastalıklarının halen sık görüldüğü ülkemizde, psikiyatrik belirtili bir hastada ateş görülmesi, psikiyatristlere mutlaka ayırıcı tanıda brusellozu düşündürmelidir. Bu olgu sunumunda psikotik semptomlarla giden bir nörobruselloz olgusu literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.

Although brucellosis has been traditionally characterized as a disorder primarily of acute high fever, night sweating, arthralgia; it can also mimic the insidious psychiatric disorders progressing with atypical chronic symp-toms. Neurobrucellosis is a rare complication of brucellosis affecting central and peripheral nervous system and causing serious clinical complications. One of these complications is psychosis which has been rarely reported in literature as case reports. The clinicians do not consider neurobrucellosis in the differential diagnosis of brucellosis. Widespread livestock production, insufficient food control, and pervasive infectious diseases in developing countries like ours might lead to higher prevalence of brucellosis in community which results in considering brucellosis as an important option in differential diagnosis of fever observed in patients with psychiatric symptoms. A neurobrucellosis case with psychotic symptoms was discussed by a literature model in this report.
