Amaç: Tükenmişlik sendromu bireylerle yüz yüze çalışan meslek gruplarında sık yaşanan bir sorundur. Bu çalışmada sağlık çalışanlarının belirli sosyodemografik değişkenlere göre tükenmişliği artıran ve iş doyumunu azaltan etkenlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemini KKTC’deki Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Devlet Hastanesi ve Barış Ruh ve Sinir Hastanesi’nde görevli 230 sağlık çalışanı oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan sosyodemografik bilgi formu, Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği ve İş Doyumu Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar: Araştırmaya katılan deneklerin yaş ortalaması 35.69±9.58’dir (aralık: 19-58). Deneklerin %17.8’i (n=41) doktor, %47.4’ü (n=109) hemşire, %26.1’i (n=60) memur ve % 8.7’si (n=20) işçidir. Erkeklerin (10.81±5.80) kadınlara (14.50±7.37) göre daha az duygusal tükenme yaşadığı ve iş doyumlarının kadınlara göre daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. 41-50 yaş grubundaki bireyler 18-30 yaş grubuna göre kişisel başarılarını (p=0.009) daha iyi görmekte ve işten daha fazla doyum (p=0.021) almaktadır. Doktorların memurlara göre daha fazla duyarsızlaştıkları (p=0.023) ve hemşirelerin doktorlara göre daha az iş doyumu (p=0.000) yaşadıkları saptanmıştır. Denekler eğitim durumlarına göre karşılaştırıldıklarında tıpta uzmanlık veya doktora yapmış bireylerin iş doyumlarının diğerlerinden daha fazla olduğu saptanmıştır. Evlilerin bekar ve dullara göre (p=0.014 ve p=0.046) iş doyumlarının daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Meslek yaşamında daha yeni (3-7 yıl arası) olanların iş doyumları, daha eski (20-25 yıl arası) olanlara göre daha az (p=0.033) olarak saptanmıştır. Bakmakla yükümlü olunan yatan ve ayaktan hasta sayısının artması veya hiç olmaması iş doyum puanını (p=0.011 ve 0.041) azaltmaktadır. Tartışma: Sonuç olarak sosyodemografik değişkenler tükenme konusunda farklı sonuçlar verebilmektedir. Tükenmişliği oluşturan kurumsal ve bireysel nedenleri araştıracak araştırmaların yapılması ve bulgular ışığında hizmet içi eğitim programlarının oluşturulması, kurumsal değişikliklere gidilmesi gerekmektedir.

Objective: Burn out syndrome is one of the common syndromes encountered in jobs necessitating face to face relationship with other individuals. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors increasing burn out and decreasing job satisfaction of hospital staff Methods: 230 hospital staff who worked in the central hospitals of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu General Hospital and Baris Mental Hospital shaped the sample of the study. Sociodemographic data form prepared by the researchers, Maslach BurnOut Inventory and Job Satisfaction Inventory were administered to the sample. Results: The mean age of the participants is 35.6 [year]s range: 19-58 [year]s). The participants according to their occupations were: 17.8% (n=41) doctors, 47.4% (n=109) nurses, 26.1% (n=60) official employees and 8.7% (n=20) laborers. Female participants (14.50±7.37) were emotionally more exhausted than male participants (10.81±5.80) and male participants have more job satisfaction than female participants. The participants who are in between 41-50 ages have more personal accomplishments than participants who are in between 18-30 ages (p=0.009) and their job satisfaction (p=0.021) were higher than others. Doctors are more desensitized than official employees (p= 0.023) and nurses have less job satisfaction (p<0.0001) than doctors. The participants who have doctoral level education or specialist in medicine have higher job satisfaction than other educational level groups. Married participants have higher job satisfaction than single or widowed participants (p=0.014 and 0.046). The levels of job satisfaction (p= 0.033) of the participants who have longer [year]s (20-25 [year]s) in the occupation are higher than of those who have fewer [year]s (3-7 [year]s) in the occupation. The level of job satisfaction decreases when inpatient or out-patient number increases and also the results is the same when there is no patient to serve (p=0.011 and 0.041). Discussion: The results of the job burn-out and job satisfaction can vary according to the different socio-demographic variables. With further studies the organizational and personal factors that cause job burn-out should be evaluated and accordingly developmental strategies to improve the organizational setting should be implemented.
