Sifiliz Treponema Pallidum''un neden olduğu cinsel yolla bulasan bir hastalıktır. Treponema Pallidum''la enfekte olan vakaların % 7-9'unda nörosifiliz olusur. Nörosifiliz 5-30 yüda gelismektedir. Son zamanlarda nörosifiliz HIV birlikteliği çok görülmektedir. Bu tür vakalann tedavisi daha da güç olmaktadır. Nörosifiliz her türlü psikotik bozukluğu taklit edebilir. Atipik seyreden psikotik vakalarda ve nöroleptiklere kötü yanıt alınan vakalarda nörosifilizin arastırılması gerekir. Son yıllardaki nörosifiliz vakalarının görülmeye başlaması dikkatle ele alınmalıdır. Her ne kadar penisilinin bulunması ile nörosifiliz sayısı azalmışsa da tanınmasında güçlük nedeniyle zorluklar yaşatan bir hastalıktır.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema Pallidum. Neurosyphilis occurs 7-9 % of the ca­ses that infected by Treponema Pallidum. Neurosyphilis develops between 5-30 [year]s after the infection. Of late [year]s, neurosyphilis and HIV coinfections have been seen together and the treatment of these cases is more dif­ficult than classical neurosyphilis. Neurosyphilis can mimic any psychotic disorder. Neurosyphilis should be con­sidered in the psychotic diseases that shows atypical processes and shows limited response to neuroleptics. The clinicians should pay attention to the comeback of neurosyphilis in last [year]s. Neurosyphilis is a critical disease because of the difficulties in diagnosis, altough the number of the patiens has mostly reduced after usage of pe­nicillin.
