Huzurevinde bakım gören yaşlılar ile yaşamını kendi evinde sürdüren yaşlıların bilişsel, affektif ve yaşam doyumu açısından karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini huzurevinde yaşayan 65, evinde yaşayan 50 olmak üzere 115 denek oluşmuştur. Bu çalışmada araç olarak Kısa Kognitif Muayene Çizelgesi, Beck Depresyon Envanteri ve Neugarten Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Kognitif Muayene Çizelgesi ve Beck Depresyon Envanteri açısından gruplararası anlamlı farklılıklar saptanmıştır. Bulgular kurum yaşamının bilişsel ve affektif açıdan bir risk oluşturduğuna işaret etmektedir.

The primary purpose of this study is to compare the cognitive impairment, affective disorder and life satisfaction of the aged people who are living in institution and the one's who are living with their family. The study sample is composed of 65 living in institutional setting and 50 in their home, a total of 115 subjects. Subjects completed the Brief Cognitive Examination Schedule, Beck Depression Inventory (BDO and Neugarten Life Satisfaction Scale. There were significant group differences for cognitive test and BDL The results showed that institutional life for the elderly is a risk factor for cognitive impairment and affective disorder.
