Bir Tıp Fakültesi Öğrencilerinde Olası Yeme Bozukluğu Sıklığı

Amaç: Ankara'da Gazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinde olası yeme bozukluğu sıklığının saptanmasıdır.
Yöntem: Bu araştırma, Ankara'da Gazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde eğitim görmekte olan 1144 öğrenci üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılma oranı %81.7'dir (n=935). Öğrencilere, yeme bozukluğunu saptamak amacıyla YTT-40 (Yeme Tutum Testi) uygulanmıştır. YTT-40 için kesme puanı 30'dur.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin %39,5'i 22 yaşın üzerinde ve %46,6'sı erkektir. Öğrencilerin %13.7'sinde olası yeme bozukluğu saptanmıştır. Olası yeme bozukluğu sıklığı erkeklerde %20.5, kızlarda %11.9'dur; cinsiyetler arasında, olası yeme bozukluğu sıklığı açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Yaş ve alkol kullanma durumu ile olası yeme bozukluğu bulunma durumu arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmamıştır (p>0.05). Sigara kullanımı ile olası yeme bozukluğu sıklığı arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark vardır (p<0.05).
Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonuçları tıp fakültesi öğrencileri arasında olası yeme bozukluğu riskinin yüksek olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Yeme bozuklukları üniversite çağındaki gençler için önemli bir sağlık sorunudur, bu nedenle üniversite öğrencilerine bu tür taramalar yapılmalı erken tanı ve gerekiyorsa tedavi imkanı sağlanmalıdır.
Prevalence of Potential Eating Disorders Among The Students of a Medical School
Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of potential eating disorders among the students of Gazi University Medical Faculty.
Method: This study was conducted on 1144 students of Gazi University Medical faculty. The study participation ratio is 81.7 % (n=935). To determine the potential eating disorder, EAT-40 (Eating Attitudes Test) has been applied to the students. The cut-off point of the EAT-40 is 30.
Results: 39.5% of the students participated to the study are at age 22 and over, 46.6% are male. The prevalence of potential eating disorders among students is 13.7%. This prevalence was 20.5% in male students and 11.9% in females, there is statistically significant difference between sex groups (p<0.05). There is not statistically significant association between potential eating disorder and age, and alcohol use (p>0.05). There is statistically significant association between potential eating disorder and smoking (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The study results shows that, the risk of potential eating disorder is high among medical school students. Eating disorders are important health problem for university youth, for this reason, it is neccessary to screening the university students and provide them the early diagnose and if needed, treatment facility.
