Nöroleptik Malign Sendrom (NMS), nöroleptik ilaçlara karşı gelişen, nedeni açık olarak anlaşılamamış bir sendromdur. Temel belirtileri, ateş, kas rijiditesi, ekstrapiramidal belirtiler ve otonomik işlev bozukluklarıdır. NMS ender görülmekle birlikte, yaşamı tehdit edici olduğu için erken tanınması ve tedavisi çok önem taşımaktadır. NMS'de hemşirenin sorumlulukları, önleme, belirtileri erken fark etme, NMS gelişen hastaya bakım verme, komplikasyonları önleme, hasta ve ailesinin eski fonksiyonlarına ulaşmasına yardım etmedir.

Neuroleptic Malign Syndrome (NMS) is an idiosyncratic reaction to neuroleptic medication. The major symptoms of NMS are hyperthermia, muscular rigidity, extrapyramidal symptoms and autonomic dysfunction. Although NMS is not frequent, it is a life-threatening situation in which early detection and treatment are important. Nurses have many responsibilities in early detection, and caring of patients who suffer from NMS and preventing complications and helping.patients and families get back to their previous level of functioning.
