Tıp öğrencilerinde alkol kullanımı ile ilgili önyargı ve tutumları

Amaç: Alkol kullanımıyla ilgili bozukluklar sıktır ve hastanelere dolaylı nedenlerle başvurulara yol açarlar. Araştırmalar, bu hastaların hekimler tarafından yeterince tanınmadığını göstermektedir. Tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin alkol kullanımı ile ilgili kendi tutum, deneyim ve görüşlerinin bu duruma etkisini araştırmayı amaçladık.
Yöntem: Uluslararası Tıp Öğrencileri Birliği Fe- derasyonu (International Federation of Medical Students Association- IFMSA), Halk Sağlığı Çalışma Komitesi bünye- sinde, dünyadaki tıp öğrencilerinde alkol kullanımıyla ilgili tutumların değerlendirilmesi ve karşılaştırılmasına yönelik oluşturulan projenin kapsamında Türk Tıp Öğrencileri Birliği (TurkMSIC) çalışanları tarafından, beş farklı şehirdeki yedi ayrı tıp fakültesinde öğrenim gören toplam 1012 öğrenciye Finlandiya Tıp Öğrencileri Birliği’nce hazırlanıp, Uluslararası Tıp Öğrencileri Birliği Federasyonu’nca uluslararası platform- da uygulanmasu kabul edilen bir soru formu verildi.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan tıp öğrencileri ara- sında tıbbi olarak zararlı olabilecek düzeyde alkol kullanımı seyrek değildi. Bu öğrencilerin yaklaşık %40’ı alkol problemi olan bir kişiyi tıbbi tedaviye yönlendirmeyi düşünmemektey- di.
Sonuç: Geleceğin hekimlerinin hastalarına daha iyi hizmet verebilmeleri için bu konuda daha kapsamlı bir eğitim almaları gerekmektedir.
Prejudice and Attitudes of Medical Students About Alcohol Use
Object: Alcohol use disorders are common and lead to multiple hospital applications for various reasons. Research data shows that these patients are not sufficiently recognized at the health care services they have been appli- ed to. This ineffective care may be related to physicians’ own experiences and attitudes towards the subject.
Method: A questionnaire about alcohol use and related stigma, prepared by Finland Medical Students Asso- ciation and was approved to be an international project by International Federation of Medical Students was handed out to 1012 medical students from seven different medical faculties in five different cities by the members of Turkish Medical Students Association.
Results: Our data shows that the amount of alco- hol consumption, clinically harmfull is quite common among medical students. Moreover, 40% of these students don’t think that it is necessary to refer the alcoholic patients for medical treatment.
Conclusion: We believe, these doctors of the fu- ture should be better educated to give better health care to these patients.
