Madde Kullanan Hükümlü Bireylerin Algıladıkları Sosyal Destek ile Depresyon Arasındaki İlişki

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, madde kullanan hükümlü bireylerde algılanan sosyal destek ve depresyon arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir.
Yöntem: Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Denetimli Serbestlik Birimine bağlı madde kullanan hüküm giymiş 86 kişi ve araştırmacı tarafından rastgele seçilmiş madde kullanmayan hüküm giymemiş 90 kişi olmak üzere toplam 176 kişi oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada sosyodemografik bilgi formunun yanında Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği (MSPSS) ve Beck Depresyon Envanteri (BDE) kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Çalışmamızın bulgularına göre, BDE puan ortalamaları ile toplam Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği puan ortalamaları ve özel bir insan alt ölçeği puan ortalamaları arasında negatif yönde ve orta düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Ancak BDE ile aile ve arkadaş alt ölçekleri puan ortalamaları arasında negatif yönde ve zayıf düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Çalışmamızda algılanan sosyal destek düzeyi madde kullanmayan ve hüküm giymemiş bireylerde daha yüksek, bulunurken, depresyon düzeyi madde kullanan ve hüküm giymiş bireylerde daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur.
Sonuç: Madde kullanan ve hüküm giymiş bireylere yönelik yapılacak sosyal desteğin geliştirilmesine yönelik psiko-sosyal programların, bu bireylerin depresyon düzeyine olumlu yönde etki edeceği düşünülmektedir.
Relationship between Perceived Social Support and Depression in Convicts using Substance
Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between perceived social support and depression in convicts using substance.
Method: The study sample consisted of a total of 176 persons, including 86 persons who were convicted and using substance in probation unit and 90 persons who were randomly selected by the researchers. Sociodemographic information of the participants was collected and Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (MSPSS) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were all administered.
Results: Study results revealed that there was a significant moderate and negative relationship between BDI and total MSPSS and Significant Other subscale mean scores. However, a negative and poorly significant relationship was found between BDI and Family and Peer subscale mean scores. MSPSS mean scores were found to be higher in individuals who were not using the substance and were not convicted and BDI mean scores were found to be higher in convicts using the substance.
Conclusion: Psycho-social programs aiming to develop social support for convicts using substance will have a positive effect on the level of depression.
