Tıp 21'inci yüzyıla girerken psikiyatri yeni gelişmelerle karşı karşıyadır. En önemli gelişmelerden biri de kadının ruhsal sağlığıyla ilgili yeni bulgulann ortaya konmasıdır. Kadınların ruhsal sorunlarıyla ilgili çalışmaların çoğu erkekler tarafından yapılmıştır. Bu makalede daha çok kadın araştırmacılara kadınların ruhsal gelişimi ve kadınlara özgü ruhsal sorunlar konusundaki yazıları gözden geçirilmiştir.
