Yöntem: Atipik depresyonlu 19 hastayı ve tipik depresyonlu 78 hastayı değerlendirdik. Depresif belirtilerin şiddeti Hamilton Depresyon Ölçeği ile değerlendirildi.
Sonuçlar: Örneklemimizde atipik depresyon sıklığınıı % 19.6 bulduk. Atipik depresyonlu hastaları klinik özellikler açısından diğer depresif hastalarla karşılaştırdığımızda, atipik depresyonlu hastaların diğerlerine göre daha genç olduklarını ve hastalık başlama yaşlarının daha düşük olduğunuibulduk. Aynı zamanda, hastalık süresi bu hastalarda daha uzundu. Ortalama Hamilton Depresyon Ölçeği puanı atipik depresyonlu hastalarda diğer hastalara göre daha yüksekti. Değerlendirme: Bu bulgular atipik depresyonun depresyonun farklı bir şekli olduğunu göstermektedir.

Object: The purpose of this study was to examine the frequency of atypical depression in a heterogeneous group of depressive patients and to compare the clinical features of the patients with atypical depression with the other depressives.
Method: We evaluated 19 patients with atypical depression and 78 patients with typical depression. Severity of depressive symptoms was assessed with Hamilton Rating Seme for Depression.
Results: We found a 19.6 % frequency of atypical depression in our sample. When we compared the clinical features of the patients with atypical depression with the other depressives', we found that they were younger and had earlier onset age of the illnes than the latter. They had also longer duration of current illness than the patients with typical depression. The mean scroe of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAM-D) was higher in patients with atypical depression than the others.
Discussion: These findings suggest that atypical depression is a different form of depression.
