Herpes ensefaliti sonrasında bellek bozukluğu ve kişilik değişikliği oldukça sık gözlenir. Bellek bozukluğu anterograd tiptedir ve hipokampal hasarla ilişkilendirilir. Bu hastalarda nadiren retrograd amneziye de rastlanabilir. Bu yazıda herpes ensefaliti sonrasında Klüver-Bucy sendromu ve belirgin retrograd amnezinin eşlik ettiği bir amnezi olgusu sunulmaktadır. Magnetik rezonans görüntülenmesinde bilateral medial temporal lob ve sağ orbitofrontal korteks hasarı saptanan ve nöropsikolojik değerlendirmesinde görsel bellekte daha belirgin ağır anterograd amnezisi ve tüm yaşama yayılan retrograd amnezi saptanan olgu temporofrontal işlev bozukluğu hipotezi bağlamında tartışılmıştır.

Amnestic syndrome and personality changes are relatively common problems following herpes encephalitis. Anterograde amnesia is thought to be related to hippocampal lesions. Rarely retrograde amnesia can also be found secondary to herpes encephalitis. Here, the authors present a case of Klüver-Bucy syndrome with severe amnesia secondary to herpes encephalits. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed bilateral medial temporal destrucrion and right orbitofrontal cortex lesion. Neuropsychological evaluation revealed visually more prominent severe anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia. The clinical features, neuropsychological test results and magnetic resonance images in this case are discussed in terms of temporofrontal disfunction hypothesis.
