Üniversite öğrencilerinde depresif belirtiler ve sosyodemografik özelliklerle ilişkisi

Amaç: Üniversite öğrencilerinde depresyon sık rastlanan bir bozukluk olup üretime ve yaşam kalitesine olumsuz etkileri
nedeniyle toplumsal sağlık sorunu olarak görülmektedir. Çalışmada öğrencilerin sosyodemografik durumları ve sorun alanlarıyla
depresif belirtilerin ilişkisi araştırılmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma grubu tabakalı rastgele örneklem yoluyla fakültelere ve sınıflara
göre orantılı olarak alınmışlardır. Çalışmaya katılan 504 öğrencinin 296’sı erkek, 208’i kadındır. Veriler anket yöntemiyle toplanmış,
depresyon düzeyini saptamak için Beck Depresyon Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar: Depresif belirtiler ile ailelerin üniversite
masraflarını karşılama gücü, ders başarısı, fakülte ve sınıf düzeyi arasında anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur. Öğrenciler, sosyal yaşam
ve tesis eksikliğini, eğitim sisteminin ve kalitesinin yetersizliğini, ekonomik sıkıntılarını sorun alanları olarak belirtmişlerdir.
Ekonomik ve arkadaşlar arası problemlerle depresif belirtiler arasındaki ilişki istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur.
The relationship with sociodemographic characteristics and depressive symptoms in university students
Objective: Depression is a common psychiatric disorder in the university students. Depression must also be determined as a
public health problem because of its negative effects on people’s life quality and personal productivity. Method: In our study
we aimed to obtain the depressive symptoms and also the socioeconomic factors and problems which are effecting depression
in university students. Five hundered four students (296 male, 208 female) participated in this study. The datas were obtained
by a self-reported student questionnaire and the Beck Depression Envantory is used to determine the depression level.
Results: There was statisticaly significant difference between depressive symptoms and the family budgets for university
education consuments, the achieve success, level of the class, and the faculty. The students explaned problems which are the
absences of social events and facilities, the unqualified education systems and at last the economic problems. The relationship
between depressive symptoms with economic and friendship problems were found statistically significant.
