Başlangıçtan bu yana psikoloji bilimi ataerkil değerlerden etkilenmiştir. Bu nedenle geleneksel psikoterapi uygulamaları kadına zarar veren uygulamalar olarak kadın ruh sağlığı ve patoloji konusunda baskın kültürün tanımlamalarını yansıtmaktadır. Geleneksel psikoterapilerin oryantasyonlarının tersine feminist terapi, kadının yaşadığı psikolojik problemlerin, cinsiyet rolü, kadının sosyalizasyonu ve ataerkil toplumda azınlık statüsünde olmasının sonucu olarak geliştiği inancına temellendirilmiştir. Bu yazıda feminist terapinin kadın ruh sağlığına ne sunduğu gözden geçirilecektir.

From its beginning, the field of psychology has been dominated by patriarchal values. As a result, traditional psychotherapies which damage to women reflect the dominant culture's definition of mental health and pathology for women. Unlike most other orientations, feminist therapy is grounded in the belief that many of the psychological problems experienced by women are a function of sex roles, female socialization, and women's minority status in a patriarchal society .This paper review what the feminist therapy offer for women mental health.
