Dear Colleagues,
We are happy to meet you again in the last issue of the eighth year. It is important for the international
recognition of psychiatric nursing in Turkey that our journal is improving its scientific quality day by
day and is now indexed in international databases, which is also necessary for our profession to reach
advanced standards. Our journal obtained a high score for academic field promotion and publication
criteria and its significance level has increased, which has become a driving force rising the scientific
levels of the articles sent, evaluated and accepted for publication. We are aware that we experience some
difficulties such as the length of evaluation process and the cost of translation, but considering the level
we have reached and our wish to move forward, we expect that all of us face up to these difficulties and
you support our Association and Editorial Board, which help this journal continue its publication life
and make progress.
In this issue, we are publishing 6 research articles; 3 descriptive and 3 systematic review articles entitled
“Examination of The Stigmatization Levels Related to Tuberculosis in The Patient and The Healthy Individuals”,
“Eating Behaviour and Orthorexia Nervosa (healthy eating obsession) In Nursing Students:
Cross-Sectional Analytic Study”, “Determining The Relation Between Caregiver Burden for Individuals
Having Neurological Disease and Their Coping Ways with Stress”, “Cancer Patients’ Perceptions of
Nursing Presence” and those related to our roles related to specialized groups: “Role and Responsibility
of Forensic Psychiatric Nurses: Systematic Review” and “Caregiver Burden in Chronic Mental Illness:
A Systematic Review”.
Our journal has started to accept articles from the international area along with the Web of Science
process. This issue also includes two review articles written by well-known authors in psychiatric nursing
entitled “Adopting an Ecological Public Health Approach to Suicide Prevention - The Cases of Turkey
and Canada: Why Can’t We Get There?” and “A Review of Our Handicapped Area of Care Process,
LGBTI” which concerns hard-to-reach individuals. In addition, a letter to editor entitled “My Professor
is not Far Away”: Online Counseling During the Application of Mental Health and Disease Nursing
Course”, which includes the new methods in education, emphasizes a very important issue.
We would like to express our gratitude to all authors who contributed to this issue, the scientific advisory
board and editorial board of the journal, and all members of the board of directors of the Association of
Psychiatric Nursing who provide us with financial and moral support.
We extend our best regards with the hope of continuing to progress with your contribution, criticism
and recommendations.
