Yargılama kapasitesi hem hukukun ana çizgisi hem de bireyin temel kognitif yetilerinden biridir. Bu çalışma İzmir, Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi adli psikiyatri eğitimi içinde yürütülmüştür. Bir saatlik standart eğitimin ardından öğrencilerden beş örnek olay üzerinde bilirkişilik yapmaları istenmiştir. Öğrencilerin bu örnek olayları nasıl yorumladıkları ve verdikleri akılcı veya duygusal yanıtları etkileyen faktörler tartışılmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin beş örnek olaydan aldıkları toplam puanlarla okul bitirme ortalama puanları karşılaştırılmıştır. 0-2, 3 ve 4 örneği geçerli yanıtlayan öğrencilerin okul bitirme puan ortalamaları evren ortalamasından farklı bulunmamış, örnek olgulardan beşini de doğru yorumlayan öğrencilerin akademik başarı puan ortalaması evren ortalamasından düşük bulunmuştur.

Judgement capacity” is one of the basic cognitive abilities of mankind and also a fundamental aspect of law. This study was performed as a part of the forensic psychiatry education at Dokuz Eylül University Medical School, Izmir. The students were asked to prepare reports on five vignettes after one hour standard education. How the students interpreted these vignettes and the factors which influence rational or emotional answers have been discussed. Also, the students’ vignettes scores were compared with their graduation score. No difference was found between the graduation scores of the students who answered 0-2,3 and 4 vignettes valid, and the mean score of the whole population. But the graduation scores of the students who answered all of the vignettes valid, were found lower than the mean scores of the whole population.
