Şiddet davranışı bireysel ve toplumsal bedeller ödenmesine neden olmaktadır. Ne yazık ki bu bedellerin bazıları onarılamaz ve geri döndürülemez durumlardır. Bu nedenle şiddet davranışını önleme çabaları birçok farklı kesimden uzmanın ilgi alanını oluşturmaktadır. Şiddet davranışını önleme çalışmaları en kolay değiştirilebilen faktörlerden başlamalıdır. Bu faktörlerin başında alkol tüketimi gelmektedir. Alkol tüketimi ile şiddet davranışı arasındaki ilişki birçok çalışma ile gösterilmiştir. Alkol ve şiddet davranışı arasında mutlak bir ilişki olduğu söylenemese bile, birçok faktörün bir araya gelmesi ile alkol etkisi altında şiddet davranışı görülebilmektedir. Alkolün üretiminden sunumuna kadar şiddet davranışında etkili faktörlerin ilgili kurumlar tarafından bilimsel bilgiler ışığında yeniden düzenlenmesi, kişilerin eğitilmesi, rehabilitasyon ve sosyal destek sistemlerinin geliştirilmesi alkol ile ilişkili şiddet davranışının önlenmesinde uygun hedefler olabilir. Bu çalışmada alkol tüketiminin şiddet davranışı üzerindeki etkisi güncel bilgiler ışığında tartışılmıştır.

Violent behaviour may cause people to pay both individual and social prices. Unfortunately some of these prices are irreversible and some situations can not be undone. Because of this, efforts to prevent violent behaviour is an interesting area for specialists from many different disciplines. Studies to prevent violent behaviour should be started from factors that can be easily changed. Alcohol consumption takes the first place between these kind of factors. The relationship between alcohol consumption and violent behavior is shown with many studies. Altough it can not be said that there is a definite relationship between alcohol and violent behaviour, violent behaviour can be seen under the influence of alcohol when many factors come together. Rearranging knowledge about factors related to violent behaviour that effect violent behaviour from production to supply alcohol by related instutions, in the light of scientific knowledge educating people, rehabilitation and developing social systems can be suitable aims against alcohol related violent behaviors. In this study we discussed effect of alcohol consumption on violent behaviour reviewing the current literatüre.
