Yoğun Bakım Ünitesine (YBÜ) yatmak, hasta için olduğu kadar, hasta ailesi için de krize neden olan durumlardan biridir. Ailede kriz durumunu hazırlayıcı faktörler arasında; yaşamı tehdit eden durumlar, aile ve diğer yakınlardan ayrılma, günlük aktivite ve rollerde bozulma, tedaviden elde edilecek sonucun belli olmaması ve YBÜ'nin yabancı bir ortam oluşu sayılabilir. Hemşireler YBÜ' nde yatan hastaları ailesiyle bir bütün olarak ele almalıdırlar. Çünkü ailede bir bireyin hasta olması ve ciddi bir hastalık nedeniyle YBÜ' ne yatırılması bir sistem olarak aileyi etkileyecek dengenin bozulmasına neden olacaktır. Bu derleme çalışmasında, yoğun bakımda yatan hastaların yakınlarında görülebilecek hemşirelik tanıları ve müdahale önerileri ele alınmıştır.

Admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is one of the conditions that causes crises for the patients as well as for the patients' family. Among the factors that prepare the crisis situation in the family are; life-threatening situations, separation from the family and other relatives, deterioration in daily activities and roles, uncertainty of the outcome of the treatment, and the existence of a foreign environment in the ICU. The nurses should treat the patients who are in the ICU as a whole with their families. Because an individual in the family is admitted to the ICU because of a serious illness, it will affect the family as a system and cause the balance to deteriorate. In this review, nursing diagnoses and intervention proposals which can be seen in the patients' relatives in intensive care unit were discussed.
