Düzenleme Odağı Kuramı (DOK, Higgins, 1997) bireylerin durumsal ve süreğen korunma ve gelişme odaklarının, temel birer motivasyon olup benlik düzenlemesinde etkin rolü olduğunu ileri sürer. Bu çalışmada, DOK kapsamında geliştirilen, geçmiş başarı yaşantılarından kaynaklanan süreğen korunma ve gelişme gururunu ölçen Düzenleme Odağı Ölçeği (DOÖ, Higgins, Friedman, Harlow, Idson, Ayduk ve Taylor, 2001) Türkçe’ye uyarlanmış ve psikometrik özellikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Ölçeğin güvenirlik ve geçerliği, biri üniversite öğrencilerinden (285 kişi), diğeri yetişkinlerden (382 kişi) oluşan iki örneklemde incelenmiştir. Birinci örneklem, çalışmada kullanılan ölçüm araçlarını kağıt kalem testi olarak, ikinci örneklem ise çevrimiçi anket hizmeti sunan bir internet sitesi aracılığı ile almıştır. Sonuçlar her iki örneklem için paraleldir. Açıklayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizleri, ölçeğin orijinalinde olduğu gibi, korunma ve gelişme odağı boyutlarından oluşan iki faktörlü bir yapı göstermiştir. Ölçeğin orijinalinden farklı olarak, korunma maddesi olarak kurgulanan bir madde gelişme boyutunu ölçmektedir. Güvenirlik analizleri her bir alt ölçeğin, özellikle bahsedilen maddenin korunma alt ölçeğinden çıkarılmasıyla, kabul edilebilir düzeyde alfa katsayılarının olduğunu göstermektedir. Ölçeğin yapı ve ölçüt geçerliğini test etmek için, bu çalışma kapsamında Türkçe’ye uyarlanan Sebat ve Risk alma ölçeklerinin (ipip.ori.org) DOÖ ile ilişkisi, ilgili literatür ile tutarlıdır. DOÖ, bir korunma maddesinin gelişme boyutuna eklenmesi ve bazı çekincelerle birlikte kullanıcılara önerilmektedir.

Regulatory Focus Theory (RFT, Higgins, 1997) asserts that situational and chronic prevention and promotion foci are basic motivations and have an active role in self-regulation. In the current study, Regulatory Focus Questionnaire (Higgins, Friedman, Harlow, Idson, Ayduk, & Taylor, 2001) developed to measure chronic prevention and promotion pride of individuals stemming from previous successful experiences within the framework of RFT has been adapted to Turkish and evaluated psychometrically. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire have been evaluated in two samples one of which composed of university students (285 participants) and the other of adults (382 participants). The first sample received the measurement devices as paper-pencil test, the second sample received them via a web site providing online survey service. The results are parallel for the samples. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed a two-factor solution as in the original structure of the scale representing prevention and promotion foci. Different from the original structure, an item constructed for the prevention focus measured promotion focus. Reliability analyses revealed acceptable level of alpha coefficients for each subscale especially with the exclusion of concerned item from the prevention subscale. Perseverance and Risk taking Questionnaires (ipip.ori.org) translated into Turkish within the current study to examine the construct and criterion validity of the RFQ displayed a consistent relation with the literature. The measure has been advised to the users with the addition of a prevention item to the promotion subscale and some reservations.
