Amaç: Bu araştırmanın ilk bölümünde yeni trafik yasasında yer alması düşünülen bazı değişiklikler ile usta şoför kavramına ilişkin tutumlar incelenmiştir. Yöntem: Araştırmaya özel araç sürücüleri (n=113) ile ticari araç sürücüleri (n=112) katılmıştır. Denekler araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen bir ölçeği doldurmuşlardır. Bulgular: Sonuçlara göre deneklerin büyük çoğunluğu, trafik yasasındaki değişiklikleri onaylamaktadır. Usta şoför kavramının olumsuz anlamları yönünden de özel ve ticari araç sürücüleri bazı farklar göstermektedirler. Araştırmanın ikinci kısmında, sürücülerin hipotetik bir kazanın sürücüsüne yükledikleri sorumluluk ile aracın hızı konusundaki tahminleri incelenmiştir. Bu araştırmada, hipotetik kazayı yapan aracın hızı, sürücüsünün cinsiyeti ve kurbanın özellikleri değiş imlenerek 32 öykü hazırlanmıştır. Bunlar özel araç (n=56) ve ticari araç (n=56) sürücülerine uygulanmıştır. Tartışma: Sonuçlara göre hipotetik araç hızlıysa ve/veya kurban belirli özelliklere sahipse, sürücüye daha fazla sorumluluk yüklenmektedir. Bunun yanı sıra, kurbanın özelliklerine göre aracın tahmin edilen hızının da değiştiği bulunmuştur.

Objective: In the first part of this study, attitudes toward some changes tought tobe made in the new traffic law and the concept of professional driver are investigated. Method: Private and commercial cardrivers (n= 113, and n= 112 respectively) participated in the study. The subjects filled a questionnaire developed by the investiga- tor. Results: Results indicated that a great majority of the subjects approved in intended changes in the traffic law. In terms of the negative meanings of the concept of professional driver there seems to ve some differences between private and commercial car drivers. In the second part of the study responsibility attributed to the driver of a hypothetical car accident by the drivers and the guesses of these drivers about the speed of the car invelved in the accident were investigated. Thirty- two vignettese were developed by manipulating the speed of the car in the accident, sex of the driver, and the attributes of the victim. Then these vignettes were presented to the private and commercial car drivers (n= 56, and n= 56 respectively). Conclusion: Results showed that more responsibility attributed to the driver. If the speed of the car high and/or victim has certain attributes. In addition, the the guesses as to the speed of the car changed according to the attributes of victim.
