Amaç: İntihar davranışı ve intiharla olum, psikiyatrı, psikoloji, sosyoloji gibi çeşitli bilim dal­ları tarafından ele alınan, çok boyutlu bir olgu­dur İntihar davranışının nedenleri 2 yöntem­le araştırılır Epıdemiyolojık yöntem ve psikolojik otopsi. Bu çalışmada amaç bir il hudutları içinde 18 ayda gerçekleşen intiharların psikolojik otop­si yöntemiyle değerlendirilmesi ve bireyleri inti­hara götüren nedenlerin araştırılmasıdır Yön­tem: Adıyaman ilinde 2000 yılında ve 2001 yılı­nın ilk altı ayında gerçekleşen 16 intihar olgusu na ilişkin bilgiler yarı yapılandırılmış aile görüş­mesi, polis ve hastane kayıtları aracılığı ile elde edildi ve değerlendirildi Bulgular: 16 olgunun 7'sı erkek 9'u kadın olup, yaş ortalaması 25 5'dır Eğitim düzeyleri en fazla lise (4 olgu) olup, diğerleri eğitimsizdir veya ilkokul düzeyin­dedir Olguların buyuk bolumu (10 olgu) evli değildir ve çalışmamaktadır (9 olgu) Sadece bir olgunun düzenli gelir getiren bir işi vardır En çok ası yöntemi (10 olgu} kullanılmış olup, di­ğerleri sırasıyla ateşli silah zehirlenme ve yük­sekten atlamadır Sonuç ve Tartışma: İntihar­lar genç nüfusta gerçekleşmiş olup, turn olgula­rın birden fazla sorunla baş etmek durumunda oldukları saptanmıştır 6 olguda çeşitli bedensel sorunlar ve 6 olguda depresyonu düşündüren bulgular soz konusudur Olgularda çevrenin ko­nuya duyarsız ve depresyon belirtileri ile te­davi konusunda bilgisiz oluşu dikkati çekmekte­dir

Objective: Suicidal behavior and suicidal deaths are examined by psychiatry psychology and sociology Reasons for suicidal behavior are examined in two ways Epidemiological method and psychological autopsy In this study we aimed to examine suicidal deaths in a city in an 18 [month] period and reasons which dragged these people to suicide Method: Hospital and police records of 16 people who died because suicide in Adiyaman irr [year]s 2000 and first 6 [month]s of 2001 were examined Semistructured family interviews were conducted in families of the deceased Results: 9 of the subjects were female, 7 of them were male and mean age was 25 5 Four of the subjects were high school graduates and the remainders either no education or graduated from primary school Most of the subjects were single (10 subjects), and had no occupation (9 subjects) Only one subject had a job with regular income While hanging was the most common way used to commit suicide (10 subjects), guns, self poisoning and jumping from high places followed this Conclusion: These suicides were in young population and all subjects had more then one problem to cope with 6 of the subjects had physical problems and 6 of them had symptoms resembling depression
