Bu yazıda, nöropsikolojinin doğuşu, gelişmesindeki ana çizgiler, bir nöropsikolojik değerlendirmenin nasıl yapılacağı gözden geçirilmiştir. Bilişsel işlevlerin neler olduğu, hangi işlevlerin hangi testlerle değerlendirilebileceği bir liste ile gösterilmiş ve bu testler hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Nöropsikolojinin Türkiye'deki durumuna da kısaca değinilmiştir.

In the present article, the evolution of neuropsychology and its approaches to the interpretation of the test results are briefly reviewed and the general outlines of a mental status examination is presented. A list of major cognitive functions and tests suitable for their assessment are provided, followed by brief information on these tests. The present status of neuropsychology in Turkey is also discussed.
