Ruh sağlığını korumayı ve iyileştirmeyi hedefleyen, psikolojik danışman ile danışan arasında kurulan profesyonel ilişkinin, başka deyişle terapötik ilişkinin temelinde duyguların farkında olma ve duyguları ifade etme yatmaktadır. Psikolojik danışmanların kendilerinin ve diğerlerinin duygularını fark edip ifade edebilmeleri mesleki bir beceri olarak ele alınmaktadır. Bu sebeple, bu çalışma kapsamında psikolojik danışman adaylarının duygusal farkındalık düzeyleri cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, algılanan sosyal destek (aile desteği ve arkadaş desteği) değişkenleri açısından incelenmiştir. Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Lisans programına devam eden 181 aday üzerinde yapılan bu çalışmada, öğrencilerin duygusal farkındalıklarını ölçmek amacıyla Duygusal Farkındalık Düzeyi Ölçeği (DFDÖ), algıladıkları sosyal destek düzeylerini ölçmek amacıyla Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği (ASDÖ) ve demografik bilgilerini belirlemek için Demografik Bilgi Formu (DBF) kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS ile analiz edilmiştir. Arkadaştan ve aileden algılanan sosyal destek ile cinsiyet ve sınıf düzeyinin, bireylerin kendi ve diğerlerinin duygularını anlamadaki yordama güçleri, doğrusal regresyon analiziyle incelenmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre, cinsiyetin ve sınıf düzeyinin duygusal farkındalık düzeyini etkilediği; algılanan sosyal desteğin de duygusal farkındalığı etkilemediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.

Emotional awareness is the main concept of therapeutic relationship which aim to protect and improve mental health between client and counselor. The ability of recognizing and defining emotions of owns and the others is a occupational ability for counselors. The aim of this paper is to analyze the levels of psychological counselor candidates' and others' emotional awareness in relation with social support perceived by friends and families, gender and class. In this study, which has been carried out on 181 bachelor students from Hacettepe University who study Psychological Counseling and Guidance, Scale of Perceived Social Support has been used to measure the levels of social support that candidates of psychological counselor perceive; Scale of Emotional Awareness Level has been used to measure the emotional awareness of the candidates; and Personal Information Form, which was developed by researchers, has been used to determine the demographic information of the candidates. The acquired data have been analyzed by means of packet program of SPSS 18.0. The social support perceived by friends and family, gender, level of class, individuals' ability to understand and predict their own and others' emotions have been examined with bivariate regression analysis. According to the findings acquired from the research, it has been observed that gender and the level of class influence the level of emotional awareness whereas social support doesn’t. These findings have been argued under the light of the literature.
