Çalışma Durumları Farklı Üç Grup Kadında Ruh Sağlığı, Kontrol Odağı İnancı ve Cinsiyet Rolü

Bu araştırmada kendi ürününü pazarda satan, maaşlı bir işte çalışan ve evhanımı olan kadınlar; ruh sağlığı, kontrol odağı inancı ve cinsiyet rolü bakımından karşılaştırılmış ve bu değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Ayrıca yaş, eğitim düzeyi, medeni durum, çocukların yaş ortalaması, kontrol odağı inancı ve cinsiyet rolünün kadınların ruh sağlığının yordanmasına katkılarına da bakılmıştır. Toplam 255 kadından, Kısa Semptom Envanteri, Rotter'ın İç Dış Kontrol Odağı Ölçeği ve Bem Cinsiyet Rolü Envanteri ile veri toplanmıştır. Pazarda ürününü satan kadınların ev hanımlarından ve çalışan kadınlardan daha çok psikopatolojik belirti gösterdikleri ve bu belirtilerin de çalışan kadınlara göre daha ciddi düzeyde olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Üç grup kadın arasında kontrol odağı inancı bakımından yapılan karşılaştırmada, pazarcı kadınların ev hanımlarından daha düşük kontrol odağı inancı puanları olduğu, cinsiyet rolleri açsından aralarında fark olmadığı bulunmuştur. Ayrıca ruh sağlığı, kontrol odağı inancı ve cinsiyet rolleri arasında ilişkiler olduğu bulunmuştur.
Mental Health, Locus of Control, and Gender Roles in three Groups of Women Differing in Employment Status
The purpose of this study was threefold: the first was to compare the mental health, the locus of control and the gender roles of women; who were employed, those who were unnemployed (housewifes) and those who sold their own products like home made food, cloths, jewelleries and the like in marketplaces and kermesses. The second aim was to investigate the contribution of age, level of education, marital status, number and mean age of children, locus of control, and gender role on women?s mental health. The third aim was to see the relationships among mental health, locus of control and gender roles. The Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI), Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale (RIELCS), and Bem Sex Role Inventory (BSRI) were administered to 255 women. It was found that women who sold their products had more frequent and more serious psychological symptoms in some subscales of BSI than other two groups. Results also showed that women who sold their products had significantly lower RIELCS scores than housewifes, and no significant differences were obtained for sex roles. Finally, it was found that there were significant correlations between mental health, locus of control and gender roles.
