Stresle Başetme Stratejileri Ölçeği (Siva 1988) genel ya da belirgin bir stresli durumda bireylerin kullandığı bilişsel ve davranışsal bazı stratejileri belirlemeye yönelik bir ölçektir. Orjinali Ways of Coping Checklist olarak geçen ve yurt dışında yapılan çalışmalarda oldukça yaygın olarak kullanılan ölçek, ülkemizde henüz yeni yeni bazı araştırmalarda kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada SBSÖ’nin geçerlik çalışması, alt ölçeklerin adlandırılması, maddelerin ifadelendirilmesi ve puanlanmasına ilişkin bazı sorunlar belirlenmiş ve belirlenen sorunlara yönelik bir takım öneriler sunulmuştur. Burada stresle başetme ile ilgili yapılacak araştırmalarda kullanılacak ölçeğin seçiminin oldukça önemli olduğu, özel olarak ise bu ölçeğin kullanımında dikkatli olunması gerçeğinin vurgulanması amaçlanmıştır.

Coping with Stress Questionnaire (Siva 1988) is a scale which is utilized to determine some cognitive and behavioral strategies a person uses in a general or certain stressfull situation. The scale, originally named as Ways of Coping Checklist which is widely administered in research studies in the World, is resently being utilized in some studies in our country. In this study, some problems and concerns related to the establishment of the validity of the scale, naming the subscales, the statement and coding of the items are determined. Some recommendations concerning these problems are also discussed. The goal of this article is to emphasize the importance of the selection of an appropriate scale for researches on stress.
