21.yy da, yaşamın her aşamasında yarış artarken, ideal yaşam standartlarına ulaşmak isteyen bireyler için motivasyon önemli bir kavram olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Böyle bir yarış, ayrıca, akademik ortamları ve öğrencilerin başarıya ve başarısızlığa karşı yönelimlerini etkilemektedir. Öğrenme ortamlarında öğrencilerin başarı hedef yönelimlerini nasıl şekillendirdiği, alandaki uzmanlar (eğitim psikologları, danışmanlar vb.) için temel tartışma konuları haline gelmektedir. Bu bakımdan, makalenin amacı, akademik çevrelerdeki başarı motivasyon kavramını titizlikle analiz etmektir. Bu kavramı incelemek adına, motivasyon kısaca betimlenmiştir. Başarı motivasyonu özenli bir şekilde tanımlandıktan sonra, Ames (1992), Molden ve Dweck (2000) vb. tarafından önerilen ilgili kuramsal yaklaşımlar doğrultusunda, öğrencilerin hedef yönelimlerini biçimlendirme gücüne sahip sınıf koşulundaki potansiyel öğeler araştırılmıştır. Makaledeki analizin sonucunda, şu ifade vurgulanmaktadır: Öğrencinin eğitim iklimini nasıl algıladığı, onun başarı hedef indeksini oluşturmaktadır. Görev, otorite, sosyal iklim, öğrencilerin ruh hali gibi faktörler, öğretmenler tarafından başarının birincil unsurları olarak dikkate alınmalıdır.

In the 21st century, as the competition increases in each phase of life, motivation appears as the pivotal concept for the individuals who would like to attain their ideal life standards. Such a rivalry also affects the academic settings and the students’ inclinations towards success and failure. How the pupils shape their achievement goal orientations in learning environments become the fundamental discussion points for the experts in this area such as educational psychologists, counsellors and so on. In this regard, the purpose of the article was to analyze the concept of achievement motivation in academic settings painstakingly. In order to examine this notion, motivation was depicted briefly. After the achievement motivation was described scrupulously, the potential elements in the classroom condition, which have the power to configure the goal orientation of the students, were explored in a thorough manner with respect to the related theoretical approaches suggested by Ames (1992), Molden and Dweck (2000), and so on. As a result of the analysis in the article, it can be stated that how the student discerns his educational climate constitutes his achievement goal index. The factors such as task, authority, social climate, mood of the students, and so on should be deemed as primary ingredients of the success by the teachers.
