Kıskançlık tipi sanrısal bozukluk Othello Sendromu olarak da bilinmektedir. Bu sendromda eşin sadakatsizliğine olan inanç tipiktir. Kişi sürekli olarak eşinin sadakatsizliğini gösteren kanıtlar bulmaya çalışır, hayali aldatılmayı önlemek için eşini önlemler almaya zorlar, yaşamını kısıtlar. Bazı durumlarda eşe zarar verebilir. Aşağıda eşinin kendisini aldattığına inanan ve 3,5 yıldır polikliniğimizde othello sendromu tanısı ile izlenen, eşinin yaşamını kısıtlayan, aldatılmayı sona erdirmek amacıyla beklenmedik bir anda eşine total abdominal histerektomi yaptıran bir olgu, gözden kaçan şiddete dikkat çekilmesi açısından ilginç bulunarak sunulmuştur.

Jealous type of delusional disorder is known as Othello syndrome. The delusion concerns the fidelity of the spouse. When a person is affected with the jealous type of delusional disorder, bits of ‘evidence’ may be collected and persons with the delusion confront their spouses or lovers and may take extraordinary steps to intervene in the imagined infidelity. Those attempts may include restricting autonomy. We report a male case who believed that his wife cheated on him and had been followed for 3 1/2 [year]s with Othello syndrome. The patient restricted his wife’s life and had his wife gone total abdominal hysterectomy in an attempt to cease the betrayal. This case was found interesting and presented in here given the hidden violence associated with the delusion.
