Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Uzmanlık Öğrencilerinde Tükenmişlik Düzeyleri ve Benlik Saygısı

Bu çalışmada; Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nde (OMÜTF) görevli uzmanlık öğrencilerinde tükenmişlik düzeylerini belirlemek, tükenmişlik düzeyleriyle sosyodemografik özellikler ve benlik saygısı arasındaki olası ilişkiyi araştırmak amaçlanmıştır.
Kesitsel tipteki bu çalışmaya; 10 Mart-10 Nisan 2003 tarihleri arasında OMÜTF’nde görevli 357 uzmanlık öğrencisinden 332’si (%93) katılmış olup, çalışmada, Sosyodemografik Özellikler Veri Toplama Formu, Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği (MTÖ), Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği’nden oluşan anket formu kullanılmıştır.
MTÖ Türkiye Normları temel alındığında; duygusal tükenmişlik üst sınırını aşan uzmanlık öğrencileri cerrahi tıp bilimlerinde %14.7, dahili tıp bilimlerinde %11.1, duyarsızlaşma üst sınırını aşanlar, cerrahi tıp bilimlerinde %6.6, dahili tıp bilimlerinde %4.7’dir. Hekimlerin benlik saygısı puanlarıyla; duygusal tükenmişlik ve duyarsızlaşma puanları arasında zayıf (r=0.216, r=0.196), kişisel başarı puanları arasında ters yönlü orta düzeyde (r=-0.271) ileri derecede anlamlı (p=0.000) bir korelasyon olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
Çalışma koşulları ve sosyodemografik özelliklerin bazıları tükenmişlik durumunun ortaya çıkmasında etkili olabilmektedir. Ancak bazı kişilik özeliklerinin de bu süreçte rol oynadığı göz ardı edilmemelidir.
Burnout Levels and Self Esteem of the Residents of Medical Faculty, Ondokuz Mayıs University
In this study, it is aimed to determine the burnout level of the residents of Ondokuz Mayis University Medical Faculty, to investigate the probable relationship among burnout level, socio-demographic attributes, and self-esteem.
In this sectional study, 332 of 357 residents (93%) at OMU Medical Faculty were participated. In addition, the questionnaire, -which is formed by Socio-demographic Properties Data Collection Form, Maslach Burnout Inventory and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale-, is used in the study.
If Maslach Burnout Scale Turkey Norms are considered; the doctors who exceed the upper limit of emotional exhaustion in surgery clinics is 17.7%, in internal medicine clinics is 4.7%; and the doctors who exceed the upper limit of depersonalization in division of surgery clinics 6.6%, and internal medicine clinics is 4.7%. It is determined that for doctors; there is a weak (r=0.216) correlation between self-esteem scores and emotional exhaustion scores; also, a weak (r=0.196) correlation between self-esteem scores and depersonalization scores, and a negative middle level (r=-0.271) correlation between self-esteem scores and personal accomplishment scores with a high degree of meaning (p= 0.000).
Working conditions and some kind of socio-demographic properties can be reasons for the burnout situation. However, it has to be considered that some personal attributes can also play a role in this process.
