Sağlık yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin şizofreni ile ilgili tutumları

Amaç: Bu çalışmada sağlık yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin şizofreni ile ilgili tutumlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırma Celal Bayar Üniversitesi Sağlık Yüksekokulu’nda araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen anket formu kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmaya 268 öğrenci katılmıştır. Anket formunda sosyodemografik bilgiler ve sağlık bilgileri ile ilgili 12, şizofrenili hasta ile ilgili 18 madde bulunmaktadır.
Sonuçlar: Katılımcıların %64.2’si olguda "ruhsal bir hastalık" olduğunu, %63.1’i şizofreni etiyolojisinde "kişilik yapısı zayıflığının" neden olduğunu belirtmiştir. Katılımcıların %89.2’si benzer yakınmaları olan birisi ile evlenmeyeceğini, %88.12’i şizofrenili hastaların kendi yaşamları ile ilgili doğru kararları alamayacağını belirtmiştir. Psikiyatri stajı yapmış olan denekler; tablonun tam olarak düzelmeyeceğine (p=0.0035), durumun tedavi edilemeyeceğine (p=0.0022) ve şizofrenili kişilerin saldırgan olacağına daha fazla inandıklarını belirtmişlerdir (p=0.0463).
Tartışma: Sağlık Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin şizofreniyi bir akıl hastalığı olarak düşünmekten çok bir ruhsal hastalık olarak kavramlaştırmaktadır. Etiyolojik neden olarak, öğrenciler öncelikle kişilik zayıflığını göstermektedirler. Öğrenciler, şizofrenili hastalarla bireysel yakınlık kurma konusunda isteksizdir ve genel halktan daha fazla olmak üzere reddedici ve dışlayıcı bir tutuma sahiptirler. Eğitim sürecindeki psikiyatri stajı, şizofreni için daha olumlu tutumları sağlamamaktadır
Attitudes of the students of the school of health toward schizophrenia
Objective: It is aimed to determine the attitudes of the students of the school of health toward schizophrenia.
Method: The study was carried out in Celal Bayar University School of Health. The sample consisted of 268 students. A questionnaire which was designed by the authors was used. The questionnaire has 12 items for sociodemographic features and health condition, 18 items for schizophrenia.
Results: Of the whole sample, 64.2% stated that the case vignette has "a mental illness" and, 63.1% believed that the weakness of personality is aetiological factor. Approximately 90% of the subjects explained that they will not get married to someone who has similar symptoms. Of the whole subjects, 88.1% stated that the patients with schizophrenia can not make correct decision about themselves. The subjects who completed the practice of psychiatry stated that this condition don’t remit completely (p=0.0035), and that the patients can’t be treated (p=0.0022). They believed that the patients with schizophrenia are aggressive (p=0.0463).
Discussion: The students of School of Health stated that the weakness of personality as aetiological factor. They are unwilling about setting personel intimacy to the patients and they are more rejective than the public. The practice of psychiatry don’t provide a positive attitude towards schizophrenia.
