Bu araştırmada Cobb, Larson ve Watson (2003) tarafından geliştirilen Romantizm ve Eş Seçimi Tutum Ölçeği (REST)’nin Türkçe’ye uyarlanması, geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmasının yapılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda ölçek 2007-2008 öğretim yılında Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi (n=193) ve Gazi Üniversitesi Gazi Eğitim Fakültesinde (n=281) öğrenim gören 474 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. REST Ölçeği’nin yapı geçerliğini belirlemek için temel bileşenler analizi kullanılarak faktör analizi yapılmış ve varimaks eksen döndürme tekniği uygulanmıştır. Yirmisekiz maddelik ölçeğin, ‘Yalnız ve Tek Doğru’, ‘Aşk Yeterli’, ‘Beraber Yaşama’, ‘Tam Güven’, ‘İdealleştirme’, ‘Çaba Göstermeme’, ‘Zıt Kutuplar’ olmak üzere yedi alt faktörde toplandığı ve toplam varyansın % 49.84’ünü açıkladığı görülmüştür. Ölçeğin güvenirliği iki yöntemle saptanmıştır. İlk olarak Cronbach alfa iç tutarlık katsayısı hesaplanmış ve ? =.65 olarak bulunmuştur. REST Ölçeği’nin alt ölçeklerinin içtutarlık katsayıları ise, .33 ile .98 aralığında değişmektedir. İkinci olarak iki hafta ara ile yapılan test-tekrar test yöntemi sonucu Pearson korelasyon katsayısı .61 olarak bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlara dayalı olarak ölçeğin yedi alt boyuttan oluştuğu, 28 madde ve dört çeldirici maddeyi içeren 32 maddelik bir ölçek olduğu görülmüştür. REST Ölçeği’nin bekar üniversite öğrencileri için geçerli ve güvenilir sonuçlar verdiği bulunmuştur.

In this research, it was aimed to investigate the adaptation of Attitudes About Romance and Mate Selection Scale (ARMSS) which was developed by Cobb, Larson and Watson (2003), and to examine the validity and reliability of scale. It was administered to the 474 students attending to Education Faculty of Ondokuz Mayis University (n=193) and Gazi Education Faculty of Gazi University (n=281) during the academic year of 2007-2008. A principal components factor analysis with varimax rotation was conducted in order to determine the construct validity of ARMSS. The factor analysis showed that there were seven factors explaining 49.84 % of total variance of the specified for the 28-items Turkish form of the scale. These factors were called “One and Only”, “Love is enough”, “Cohabitation”, “Complete Assurance”, “Idealization”, “Ease of effort”, “Opposite Complements”. Reliability of the scale was determined in two ways. First, The Cronbach Alpha coefficient regarding the internal consistency as .65. Following were Cronbach-alpha internal consistency coefficient of subscales vary between .33 and .98. Second, The scale was administered twice over a 2 week period in order to identify the stability coefficient; Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated to be r =.61. Therefore, it can be said that the 32 items (28-items and 4-items distracter) form of the scale, gives valid and reliable measures to determine single university students.
