Alkol yoksunluk sendromu kişinin uzun süre alkol kullanımını takiben alkol alımının azaltılması ya da bırakılması sonucu ortaya çıkan belirtileri içeren bir tablodur. Alkol yoksunluk sendromu kliniği basit bir tremordan, nadiren ortaya çıkan taktil, işitsel ve görsel halusinasyon, dezoryantasyon, konfüzyon gibi bilinç bozukluğuyla ortaya çıkan deliryum tremens tablosuna dek değişebilir. Genelde bu klinik durum son alkol alımından 48-72 saat sonra başlayıp, 1 hafta içinde belirgin şekilde düzelir. Biz bu yazıda bir uzamış alkol yoksunluk sendromu ve deliryum tremens olgusunu sunmayı amaçladık. 42 yaşındaki 25 yıllık alkol kullanım öyküsü olan hasta alkolü kestikten 5 hafta sonra deliryum tremens tanısı ile hospitalize edildi.

Alcohol withdrawal syndrome is a set of symptoms that can occur when an individual reduces or stops alcohol consumption after long periods of alcohol use. Symptoms may differ from benign tremor to transient hallucinations (auditory, visual or tactile), disorientation, confusion and delirium tremens. Withdrawal usually begins one to three days after the last drink and can last for up to one week. In this paper, we presented a case of prolonged alcohol withdrawal and delirium tremens. 42 year old male patient with a history of 25 years of alcohol use was hospitalized for delirium tremens 5 weeks after cessation of alcohol.
